Each summer, the Lee's Summit North Broncobots host robotics camps, along with their sister school, Team Driven, for elementary and middle school aged students to begin exploring and developing an interest in engineering and technology. Much like the high school FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) league, the students at camp are given a game task and one week to build a functional robot out of VEX parts that is capable of competing in the game designed for that camp. Students are divided into teams of two or three and go from brainstorming to competition as a team throughout the week of camp. Students are also given the chance to design flyers and websites for their team in some level, much like the high school students. The campers work closely with each other, as well as with high school mentors, to design the best robot they can. Throughout the week of camp, students come away with knowledge and new friendships. The Broncobots would like to thank all the students who participate in their camps for their hard work. All camps run Monday-Friday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. each day.

Level 1

The Level 1 camp is the introductory level camp offered by the Broncobots and Team Driven. This camp allows students to build a basic VEX robot which much compete in a game and achieve certain tasks. Working closely with high-school mentors from the Broncobots and Team Driven, campers develop robots and game strategy, have the opportunity to design websites and flyers for their team, just like high school robotics teams, and finish camp with an understanding of robotics, as well as new friendships and an appreciation for science and technology.

Level 2

Level 2 camp is an introduction to programming. This camp builds on the concepts learned in Level 1 and uses them to build a more complicated robot capable of competing on its own. The Level 2 playing field is more complicated than Level 1 and has a maze or obstacle that students must program their robot to be able to complete on its own without human interaction. It is strongly recommended that students complete Level 1 before taking Level 2 because of the background in VEX that is needed for Level 2.

Level 3

Level 3 is an expansion of both previous levels of camp. The Level 3 camp uses more complicated programming in order to complete the obstacle in the game task. It allows students to improve both their building and programming skills. Because of the skills needed in this camp, it is strongly recommended that students have finished both Level 1 and Level 2. The Broncobots currently do not have a Level 3, however, Team Driven does. Team Driven, the Broncobot's sister team, also has their own Level 1 and Level 2 available. Students interested in taking all 3 levels may take camps at either school, as they are the same camps and staffed by the same group of students.
