Chairman's Award

The Regional Chairman's Award goes to a team that effectively communicates the goals and ideas of FIRST through their actions, as well as serves as a good example for other teams. The team also encourages the recognition of science and technology. Regional Chairman's award winners qualify to compete at Championships with their robot as well as compete for the Chairman's Award at Championships. View the Chairman's Award manual.

FIRST Dean's List Award

The Dean's List Finalist Award goes to a student at a regional event who embodies the spirit and ideals of FIRST. According to FIRST, "This award celebrates a student's outstanding leadership and effectiveness in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering and engineers, both within their school, as well as their community". The Finalist Award Winner will compete for the Dean's List Award at Championships. View the Dean's List Award manual.

Engineering Inspiration Award

This award is given to a team that encourages the respect and appreciation of engineering and science within their community. Winning this award at a regional qualifies a team to compete at Championships. This award can be won on both the regional and championship level.

Founder's Award

The Founders Award, which is only given out at the Championship, is given to a person or organization for encouraging and helping to advance the mission and ideals of FIRST.

Woodie Flowers Award

The Woodie Flowers Finalist award is given to a mentor at each regional for their work in encouraging the advancement of science, engineering, and technology and aiding their students in the study of these subjects. The Finalists then qualify to compete for the Woodie Flowers Award at Championships. The Woodie Flowers Award manual can be found here.

Regional Winner

This award is given to the alliance that wins the competition at the regional level. This award qualifies a team for Championships.

Regional Finalist

The Regional Finalist award is presented to the alliance that makes it to the final match of the regional competition.

Champion

The Champion award is given to the alliance that wins the FIRST Championship.

Championship Finalist

This award is given to the alliance that makes it to the final match of the Championship.

Division Winner

Celebrates the team or alliance that wins the final match in their division at the Championship.

Division Finalist

This award goes to the alliances that make it to the final match in their division at Championship.

Coopertition Award

The Coopertition Award is given at both regionals and the Championships. This award goes to the team that is willing to help other teams at the competition, whether they be alliance partners or opponents.

Creativity Award Sponsored by Xerox

This award, according to FIRST, "celebrates creativity in design, use of component, or strategy of play". It is given at both regionals and the Championship.

Engineering Excellence Award Sponsored by Delphi

This award, which is presented at both regionals and the Championship, is given to a team for an innovative robot feature.

Entrepreneurship Award Sponsored by Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers

This award is given to a team with an innovative business plan. This plan is used to set and achieve team goals and has the framework of a business set-up. This award is given at both the regional and Championship level. The manual for the Entrepreneurship Award can be found here.

Excellence in Design Award Sponsored by Autodesk

This award, which is given at both the regionals and the Championship, according to FIRST, "honors clear and compelling evidence of excellence in design development, documentation, communication, and presentation. The intention of the Award is to inspire, recognize and celebrate design as one way in which you can change your world". The Excellence in Design Award manual can be found here.

Gracious Professionalism Award Sponsored by Johnson and Johnson

This award is given to a team that demonstrates sportsmanship and gracious professionalism both on and off the field. This is given to teams at the regionals and the Championships.

Highest Rookie Seed Award

This award is given to the highest seeded rookie team at the end of qualifying rounds at both regionals and Championships.

Imagery Award in Honor of Jack Kamen

Given at both regionals and the Championship, this award is given to a team with a visually appealing robot and team appearance.

Industrial Design Award Sponsored by General Motors

This award goes to a team that has a well-designed machine that can achieve game challenges very well. It is given at regionals and the Championship.

Industrial Safety Award Sponsored by Underwriters Laboratories

This award is given to a team that is innovative in the way they make their environment safe. This award is presented at regionals and at Championship.

Innovation in Control Award Sponsored by Rockwell Automation

According to FIRST, this award "celebrates an innovative control system or application of control components to provide unique machine functions".

Judges' Award

This award goes to a team that judges believe is worthy of merit for a unique effort or performance. It is given at regionals and the Championship.

Quality Award Sponsored by Motorola

This award, which is given at regionals and the Championship, is given to a team for their well-manufactured design and well thought out concept.

Rookie All-Star Award

This award, which is presented at both regionals and the Championship, is given to a team that implements the FIRST mission and values into their team, even though they are a rookie team. This team also inspires their community to get involved in engineering and technology. Teams receiving this award at regionals qualify to compete at Championships.

Rookie Inspiration Award

According to FIRST, this award "celebrates a rookie team for outstanding effort as a FIRST team in community outreach and recruiting students to engineering. This award can be won at both regionals and the Championships.

Team Spirit Award Sponsored by Chrysler

This award goes to a team that is enthusiastic and demonstrates team spirit throughout the competition. This team works well with other teams and stays upbeat. This award is presented at regionals and the Championship.

Website Award

This award is given to the teams with well student-designed and managed FIRST team website. The Website Excellence Award is given to teams at regionals for well-designed sites. The Best Website award is given at both the Regional and the Championship for the highest-scoring website. Winning this award at a regional qualifies the website to compete at Championships for Best Website, but does not qualify the team to compete as well. The Website Award manual can be found here.
