Day Two at the KC Regional 2009

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Today the excitement continued at the 3rd Greater Kansas City FRC Regional. Our friends at ACE Robotics, 2894, are rocking! Along with our friends from 1730 and 1986. Congrats to Team Titanium (1986), the Imagery Award winners!!
Here are some pictures from today. Yet again, I kept forgetting I had my camera in my back pocket and forgot to take it out. At least Dustin and Paul from Honeywell were there to get movie and pictures today on the field!
BTW- Dustin and Paul, if you see this before I get to talk to you, can I get some copies of the pictures sometime? :D

Tomorrow is your last chance to come out and see the excitement Lunacy is presenting. Come see the game we are going to play in Denver in a few weeks!
Hale Arena, Saturday, the 27th, from about 8am to about 4:30pm.

Working

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Today was busy busy busy here. The KC Regional practice day is tomorrow. We’ve got about 17 volunteers from the Broncobots so watch for them!
Today we cooked goodies for our friends at Team Driven and Team Titanium wishing them good luck this weekend.

Also tonight, Emma and I made a flag for our friends at ACE Robotics, Team 2984. It was hard work working with nylon, I’ll tell you!

Also, I am sorry if I haven’t responded to emails specifically. This is ONLY my school email that I clean out all the time.

Also, please continue ordering banquet tickets! Email summitrobotics@gmail.com or me and pay during the parent meeting next week.

Responses from 2009 Letter Campagin

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

With our 400-500 letters sent this year, we have had responses from Kit Bond, Matt Bartle, and now Mr. Obama.
The reply came through email to our mentor, Mr. H.
Here it it:
“Thank you for inviting President Obama to attend the Kansas City Regional FIRST Robotics Competition.

The President values each and every invitation, but due to time constraints, he must decline the majority he receives. We have reviewed your invitation, and unfortunately, the President will be unable to attend.

As you noted in your letter, President Obama has sought to prioritize science and math education and teacher recruitment. As he has said, “We need to recruit an army of new teachers. I’ll make this pledge: If you commit your life to teaching, America will pay for your college education. We’ll recruit teachers in math and science, and deploy them to under-staffed school districts in our inner cities and rural America. We’ll expand mentoring programs that pair experienced teachers with new recruits. And when our teachers succeed, I won’t just talk about how great they are—I’ll reward their greatness with better pay and more support.” We thank you for partnering in this pursuit as a science and math mentor, and we appreciate your understanding. We thank you and your organization for your contributions in this pursuit, and we appreciate your understanding.

Sincerely,

The White House Scheduling Department”

Although all of the people who have replied have politely declined our invitation to the regional, at least they responded!

Unwanted Guest at the Robot House

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

We had an unwanted guest hanging out in the attic of the robot house for this season. Most of you have probably heard footsteps on the ceiling, and we have captured the culprit. It was a raccoon who had been partying it up in the nice insulation.

He was peacefully released a local lake.

NOTE: No humans or animals were harmed in the situations with the wild beast.
